Another twist for the Sulphur Golden Tornados: just two days after adding a win to their record books, Sulphur will give one up.
The Tors will forfeit their Sept. 8 win over Washington-Marion, a game Sulphur won 44-14. Sulphur head coach Jeff Wainwright confirmed the forfeiture to KPLC. The Tors self-reported the use of an ineligible player.
After starting the season 0-6, Washington-Marion now gets their second win in a week. The Charging Indians picked up their first win, 16-13, on Friday, Oct. 14. The Charging Indians are now 2-5.
When it was announced Monday that Acadiana forfeited a game to Sulphur on Monday, it put the Tors atop the District 3-5A ratings.
Because the game against Washington-Marion is out-of-district, Sulphur stays at first in the district. However, the loss will drop every District 3-5A team in the power ratings.
