LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A 75-year-old Lake Charles woman attempted to run over a man with her car on Wednesday, Oct. 19, authorities said.

Other Pear Street residents said the two are next-door neighbors.

Ella Reed is charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Reed was traveling on Pear Street when she saw the man standing on her front porch, said Lt. Richard Harrell, Lake Charles Police Department spokesman. She attempted to run over the man. He was able to move, but she ran into his residence.

Reed then backed up and chased the man with her vehicle, Harrell said. He was able to stay away from her while calling 911. Arriving officers found Reed still sitting in her vehicle.
