Farmers are being honored in Jeff Davis Parish today. Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture, Mike Strain was the guest speaker and a Farmer of the Year was named at an appreciation breakfast. You can watch the chairman of the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce discuss the event HERE.

Also today, a string of bumblebee deaths has one woman taking an unorthodox approach to saving them. At noon, we'll see how she stumbled upon a trend that beekeepers call completely normal.

Plus, we'll have the story of an iconic symbol thought to bring good luck. We'll take a closer look at the time-honored tradition of the majestic wedding cake.

In weather, look out for lots of humidity, a high near 90 and widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Meteorologist Ben Terry will have more on what we can expect as the holiday weekend draws near during his live, local forecast at noon. For a list of holiday events and closures, click HERE.

Remember, if you're not near a TV at noon, you can watch us live on our mobile news apps for Apple or Android devices.

Have a great day!
