Calcasieu libraries announce programs for May 24-30

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) - The following is a news release from Calcasieu Parish Public Library:

Notice:

All branches of the Calcasieu Parish Public Library will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25. Materials may be dropped off in the Book Drop boxes located at each branch. Items can be renewed online at

and clicking on the My Account icon at the top of the page. Patrons can also renew items by calling 437-4153 or toll free at 1-800-240-0212, and following the directions you hear. A library card number and PIN number will be needed for both.

Summer Reading Program:

The Calcasieu Parish Public Library will kick off the 2015 Summer Reading program with a very special “Kick-Off Celebration” on Friday, May 29 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Prien Lake Park Harbor's Edge Pavilion. Magician David LeBoeuf will perform, and all ages will enjoy a variety of games and crafts, including bookmark creations, face painting, cookie decorating and an exciting variety of outdoor activities including kite flying and hula hoops. :  4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26.  Tweens (grades 3-5) will enjoy an in-branch camping trip, complete with fun games and activities.  Registration is required.

Story Time

:  3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27.
