Westlake residents oppose proposed worker village - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Westlake residents oppose proposed worker village

Good evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for Nightcast.

Due to NBC programming there will be no 7News at Six today.

Voters have been casting their ballots all day on a proposed sales tax to fund pay raises for all Calcasieu Parish School Board employees. We'll start airing results when polls close at 8 p.m.

Plus, Westlake residents are getting organized to oppose a proposed worker village. KPLC's Erica Bivens has a preview.

Also, Tour LaFitte turns 25! We're there as thousands of cyclists take part in the SWLA's premiere cycling event.

And Derby for Dollars had Lake Area folks dressed to the nine to support the Shannon Cox Counseling Center.

If you made your way out to Contraband Days you may have seen a lot of arm pulling at the "Armwrestling Tournament." See them battle out for top honors.

Not a bad weekend to be out at Contraband Days or on the water. Meteorologist Zack Fradella tells us how long this nice weather will last.

We'll see you tonight at ten for these stories and more. Until then, stay updated with the 7 News Mobile App.
