The following programs have been announced for March 15-21 at various Calcasieu Parish Public Library locations:

ADULTS

Online Scavenger Hunt

:  10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 19.  Adults will use the library website and resources to find a variety of things.  Registration is required.

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale

:  3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 5:00 p.m.

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale

:  10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 12:00 p.m.

Central Library Book Club

:  6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18.  Adults will discuss “The Missing” by Tim Gautreaux.  Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month and is open to anyone interested.

Computers-Beyond Basics

:  10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19.  Adults with basic computer skills who would like to improve their proficiency will cover files and folders, task managers, disk cleanup, and more.  Registration is required.

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale

:  2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 4:00 p.m.

Maker Hours

:  5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19.  Visit the Innovation Studio at Central Library every Thursday evening to tinker with fun technology, including 3D printing.  For more information visit

Coupon and Recipe Exchange

:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18.  Adults will exchange coupons and recipes with a recipe example prepared and shared with all.

Free Income Tax Services

:  9:00 a.m., Friday, March 20.  VITA will be available for free income tax services for those who are eligible.

Yoga for Beginners

:  6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17.  Adults will learn yoga basics taught by a certified yoga instructor.  Please bring a mat to towel and wear comfortable clothing.  Registration is required.

:  2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 18.  Certified volunteers will provide free tax assistance through AARP.  First come, first served.

Teen Tech Week Vine Contest

:  During branch hours, February 9 – March 30.  Students in grades 6-12 will make a 5 to 6 second movie clip that will be posted online for the public to vote on.  Entries can be submitted February 9-March 2.  Online voting will take place March 9-27, with the winner announced on March 30.  For more info call 721-7121.

Tech Teens

:  4:30 p.m., Monday, March 16.  Teens will learn about film making, computer programming, and other cool electronics.

ACT Tips

:  6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17.  Darren Alcock, Math Professor at McNeese State University, will review the ACT test and provide study tips.  Registration is required.

Animanga Group

:  4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 19.  Teens who love Anime and Manga will meet to share and learn more about the culture surrounding them.
