Cameron man charged in fatal crash that killed pedestrian

Good Afternoon,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on today.

A Cameron man is jailed tonight for 3rd Offense DWI following a deadly crash that killed a pedestrian. State Police say the suspect is also accused of tampering with an ignition interlock device and open container.

Plus, it was recruitment day for the Lake Charles Police Department. We're there to see who made the cut to get a shot at wearing the badge.

And, Vinton's "City of Refuge" helps homeless veterans, but tonight they're asking for donations to keep their operation running. KPLC's Erika Ferrando will have a live look from the event.

Also, another fundraiser that helps match Lake Area Kids with mentors was having a good time bringing the community together and raising a lot of cash. KPLC's Monica Grimaldo takes you out Big Brothers Big Sisters "Bowl for Kid's Sake."

Not a bad start to our weekend... we did manage to see some sunshine. But can we expect any changes for our Sunday? Meteorologist Zack Fradella has the forecast.

We'll see tonight at Six for these stories and more. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.
