210 bridge closed, MLK Day events, Halo update, tax filings

Good Monday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here with a look at some of the stories you can expect to see on today's Sunrise:

*Traffic alert: Louisiana State Police Troop D is advising that the 210 bridge is closed in both eastbound and westbound directions as of 5:00 this morning.  We are working to get information on what led to the closure and will keep you posted as details emerge.

*Celebrations and remembrances are set across Southwest Louisiana in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  KPLC's Erica Bivens is reporting live this morning from the Lake Charles Civic Center with a rundown of what's in store, from the family day celebration to a parade and gumbo cook-off.

*A late night fatal wreck in Westlake is under investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office this morning.  We'll tell you about the crash involving an 18-wheeler and a car on Old Spanish Trail near Phillips 66.

*A pit bull puppy in Lake Charles who got off to a rough start is now an advocate for his breed.  We have a good news update about Halo, who is now a therapy dog.

*The state revenue department will begin accepting tax returns for 2014 tomorrow.  Find out when your return will be processed if you e-file early.

*It's a cool start to the day, but Meteorologist Ben Terry tells us we are in store for lots of sun and temperatures approaching 70 degrees today.  He'll have a look at how long the sun will be in the forecast before our next chance for rain.

Make it a Sunrise day!
