KPLC's Community Christmas kicks off on today's Sunrise!

Good Monday morning to you!  Britney Glaser here hoping you'll join us for a special edition of 7News Sunrise on this first day of December.

We are officially kicking off KPLC's Community Christmas and Salvation Army Angel Tree this morning in partnership with Capital One Bank.  This holiday initiative provides hundreds of local families across our five parish area with a Christmas meal and toys for their children.

There are only two weeks to collect all of the items to make Christmas merrier for families in need.  Our Sunrise crew will be live from the Capital One tower in downtown Lake Charles letting you know how you can pitch in!

Some of the most needed food donations include canned vegetables, cake mixes/icing, rice, cornbread mixes, mac and cheese, boxes of stuffing and canned fruits.

When it comes to toys, we need toys for more than 700 boys and girls through age 12.  We'll let you know some of the most requested items and all of the drop-off locations across Southwest Louisiana.

Don't miss our live kick-off in the 6:30 half hour of 7News Sunrise!
