U.S.S. Orleck teaching young cadets importance of serving their country

Good Evening,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for Nightcast.

We'll have more on yesterday's deadly accident that killed a contractor on an offshore platform off Louisiana's coast.

Plus, the patriotic observances continued today at the U.S.S. Orleck. KPLC's Erika Ferrando shows us how the old naval destroyer is helping young cadets learn the importance of serving their country.

And the Family and Youth Counseling Center in Lake Charles began recruiting high school students to kick start this year's career exploration program. KPLC's Monica Grimaldo explains how area students are getting a head start when choosing the right job.

Also it's not your common library, instead of books it's filled with technology. But as KPLC's Haley Rush explains even the technology is special. We get a behind the scenes look at how this new lending library is helping some special students.

And I hope you've enjoyed this fall-like weather this weekend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it continues - (it's great running weather). We'll check in with Meteorologist Zack Fradella for our work week forecast.

We'll see you later tonight following NFL Football. Until then, we're always on at kplctv.com.
