SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

Tropical downpours dropped heavy rainfall across a good portion of Southwest Louisiana Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for many areas and it remains in effect until 6 p.m. tonight. This warning includes Calcasieu, Beauregard, Jeff Davis and Allen parishes. Between 2 to 8 inches of rain has fallen around the area with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible before the rain eventually comes to an end later tonight.

During a flood warning, you should not venture outdoors or travel area roadways. Many roadways have standing water and could be totally impassable. Authorities are advising motorist to stay home.

The good news is the heaviest rainfall has moved out of the Lake Area, but off and on showers will continue through this evening.
