Hornbeck man charged with aggravated assault with a firearm

VERNON PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A Hornbeck man was arrested Monday, following an investigation by deputies with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office in reference to a disturbance on Bushy Creek Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies were advised that the suspect, identified as 54-year-old John "Johnny" Carroll, was intoxicated and had fled from a residence into a nearby wooded area, firing several shots from a firearm in close proximity to the residence.

Deputies searched the wooded area and located Carroll a short time later.

He was arrested and booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on charges of one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and one count of Illegal Discharge of a Weapon.

His bond was set at $25,000.

Prosecutors say Scasino was stabbed at least fifty times and his body was mutilated. After Kight visited a state appointed a psychologist, Judge Robert Wyatt had to base the decision on whether Kight knew right from wrong at the time of the offense.  Kight's sentencing is set at 1:30 p.m. on
