IOWA, LA (KPLC) - Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist at about 9:80 p.m. on Wednesday.

The crash, which took place on La. 383 about two miles north of Iowa, took the life of 54-year-old Brian Hackenbruch of Kinder, who was operating the motorcycle.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2003 Mercury Marquis driven by 38-year-old Clayton Jack Jr. of Ville Platte was traveling south on La. 383 when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Hackenbruch.

The Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner's Office pronounced Hackenbruch dead at the scene.

Jack Jr. sustained minor injuries and was transported to a Lake Charles hospital for treatment.

State Police say impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash and that charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
