DWI checkpoint arrests Jennings man suspected of carnal knowledge with juvenile

JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) -

DWI checkpoints may not always get the impaired drivers, but the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office will tell you they're not always a complete bust.

During a DWI checkpoint Friday night, a Jennings man wanted for carnal knowledge of a juvenile was arrested after going through the checkpoint.

Deputies arrested Christopher P. Istre, 25, of 718 Bryan street, Jennings, La. Istre was booked into Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.

Three citations were issued for driving under suspension, open container of alcohol and expired inspection sticker.  Four standard field sobriety tests were conducted. No DWI's were issued.

The checkpoint was located on Highway 90 just west of Jennings. The Welsh Police Department and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office assisted with the checkpoint.

Once water is restored, a precautionary boil advisory will be in place.
