Candlelight Vigil for boy who died in house fire

A Candlelight Vigil brought together almost 100 people for 7-year-old Kahlil Dangerfield who died from a house fire.

The fire took place August 12 and Kahlil died August 15. He suffered over 80 percent burns on his body.

Friends, family, and past teachers joined together at Throne of Grace Fellowship in Lake Charles. The T.H. Watkins faculty and staff organized this vigil.

His past pre-k teacher, Rachel Walters said, "He was a very sweet and lovable kid, always had a smile on his face, loved to give hugs, so we just want to let his family know, that were here for them."

Kahlil's mother, Kayla Dangerfield said of the vigil, "It lift me up. I'm glad everybody came out. It was wonderful."

Kahlil's funeral will happen on Saturday at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Visitation begins at 9:00 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am.

A benefit account is set up at every Iberia Bank in Louisiana and Texas in the name of Kahlil Dangerfield. This will help the family with medical expenses and the losses from the fire.
