AG: Homeowners need to submit Ocwen foreclosure settlement claims before Sept. 15

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Claim forms under the $2.1 billion Ocwen national mortgage foreclosure settlement have been sent to Louisiana borrowers affected by foreclosure between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2012.

Borrowers who had mortgages serviced by Ocwen, Homeward Residential Holdings LLC (f/k/a, American Home Mortgage Servicing, Inc) or Litton Loan Servicing LP may be eligible for payments.

The Consumer Protection Section of the Louisiana Attorney General's Office is strongly encouraging Louisiana borrowers to submit claims by the Sept. 15 deadline. Ocwen has agreed to first-lien principal reduction and other borrower benefits on nearly 185,000 foreclosed loans. Payments to eligible borrowers begin Dec. 3, 2014.

Claim forms must be submitted online at www.nationalmortgagesettlement.com or by mail before September 15, 2014. For more information, contact the National Ocwen Settlement Administrator toll free at 1-866-783-5382, in English and Spanish, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
