'Cray' new words added to Oxford's online dictionary

(WVUE) -

Britain's Oxford University Press announced on Thursday that they will be adding new words to its online Oxford Dictionary to reflect new language trends.

The online dictionary should not be confused with the Oxford English Dictionary - the definitive historical record of the English language. However, it's still something to note.

So how does the Oxford Online Dictionary decide which words to include? The online dictionary states on their site:

"New words, senses, and phrases are added to OxfordDictionaries.com once editors have gathered enough independent evidence from a range of sources to be confident that they have widespread currency in English."

Among the new words are:

  • Adorbs
  • Amazeballs
  • E-cig
  • Baller
  • Fratty
  • Air punch
  • Hench
  • Bare
  • Hexacopter
  • Hot diggity
  • Binge-watch
  • Hot mess
  • Bro hug
  • Humblebrag
  • catfish
  • Clickbait
  • ICYMI
  • Cord cutter
  • Listicle
  • Cray
  • Live-tweet
  • Neckbeard
  • Side boob
  • SMH
  • Subtweet

  • WDYT

For tonight, scattered showers will be possible with just a few thunderstorms.  The risk of severe weather is very low and rainfall should be lighter than earlier today, limiting the flood potential. Temperatures will not cool down very much with lows in the upper 60s.
