IOWA, LA (KPLC) -

A former Fenton police officer has been arrested on charges of burglary, theft over $1,500 and criminal damage to property.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Jason Mack, 33, was arrested Wednesday near a home on Nick Martone Road in Iowa.

Mack, who resigned from the force Thursday, has been accused of breaking into a shop behind the home and taking several items.

A sergeant with the Fenton Police Department said the incident was not a random break-in and happened at a property belonging to someone Mack knew.

“He went back to get his personal property from his estranged girlfriend,” the sergeant said.

Bond was set at $10,000.
