State troopers say they initiated the traffic stop Friday morning on I-20 eastbound near mile marker 30 because they suspected the driver was impaired.
A driver pulled over by Louisiana State Police in Bossier Parish Friday morning has died after he reportedly lodged a small bag of suspected narcotics in his throat.

State troopers say 34-year-old Rayshune Henry of Dallas died just after 9 a.m. Saturday after being rushed to Willis-Knighton Hospital in Bossier City Friday.

State troopers say they initiated the traffic stop at 5:30 a.m. Friday on I-20 eastbound near mile marker 30 because they suspected that Henry was impaired. Troopers then discovered he had a warrant for his arrest for violation of parole.

As they attempted to arrest Henry, he reportedly fought with troopers. Troopers say they used a Taser on Henry three times because he refused to comply with their orders.

Troopers say Henry sat in the passenger side of his vehicle with his hands concealed after they told him to remain outside of his vehicle. They said Henry also took off running.

After Henry was caught, troopers noticed he was having trouble breathing. Henry then became unresponsive. Paramedics were called to the scene and discovered he had a clear plastic bag of white substance lodged in his throat. Troopers suspect the bag contained drugs.

A routine investigation into this incident has been launched.
