ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The paramedics who transferred the Ebola patients from Dobbins Air Reserve Base to Emory University Hospital had to take tremendous caution to make sure their own safety wasn't compromised.

Though the trip was especially unique and sensitive, EMTs Gail Stallings and John Arevalo said they were ready.

"We've trained considerably for these scenarios," said Stallings. "So for us, these two transports were pretty much just another day. It's something that we've spent a lot of time working on doing and making sure that we could be safe and the patient would be safe and the community would be safe."

And their job didn't end when they dropped off the patients.

They said their ambulance was sealed top to bottom and cleaned excessively after each transport.

"We spent about four hours both days decontaminating the ambulance, even though there was no risk of any contamination to the surface itself," said Stallings.

"It's the cleanest ambulance in Atlanta," Arevalo added.
