LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Two Louisiana residents are wanted on drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near the Creole exit, authorities said.

A spokesman for the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force said 44-year-old Anthony Collins, of Gonzales, and 47-year-old Stacy Ellis, of Baton Rouge, were pulled over for defective equipment on Thursday.

During the initial search of the vehicle, authorities said they found six-ounce bottles of promethazine cough syrup in a suitcase. Collins and Ellis were charged with sale, distribution or possession of legend drug without a prescription and bonded out of jail.

During a secondary search of the vehicle, authorities said they discovered 771 oxycodone and 274 hydrocodone pills hidden in a natural void.

Arrest warrants were then issued for Collins and Ellis on charges of drug possession with intent to distribute and resisting arrest by providing false identification.
