Crews put out fire after explosion at Norco plant

NORCO, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said the fire that resulted from an explosion at a biodiesel plant Sunday night has been extinguished.

The St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center reported there was an explosion at the Diamond Green Biodiesel facility in Norco around 9:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and is being investigated. No injuries were reported.

Officials said the production unit of the plant involved in the explosion has been shut down. 

They added there are no road closures and air monitoring in the area detected no hazardous chemicals.

The SCPEOC is continuing to monitor the situation.
