RVA Latches takes over Capitol

It's not something you see everyday at the State Capitol, or really even the topic of conversation you hear in the halls that Jefferson built. But Saturday, moms and kids took over part of the Capitol to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding.

Similar events happen around the world, every year during the first week of August. And we heard from two moms, both sisters, who just had their babies a month apart.

"It takes a village for sure. But the support that I receive from the community, my family and friends, has helped me keep at it. So we're seven months strong, and six months here," said mom Amanda Jones.

Attending the event, organizers say, isn't about making a statement, it's about celebrating mothering and creating a community of support. It was also nice to see a bunch of babies in the Capitol, none of them, arguing.
