Good morning!

Agnes DeRouen in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for 7News@Noon.

An arrest has been made in a 2008 stabbing death. This morning, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and the FBI announced the arrest of 26-year-old Jose Manuel Garcia-Guevara in the death of Wanda Barton. He was extradited from Mexico. KPLC's Lee Peck was at this morning's announcement and will have a live report at noon. You can also read more info HERE.

A suspicious device was found by a garbage crew near Ragley this morning. The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office and the State Police responded, but it turns out the suspicious box was apparently some sort of replica. We do have a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available. You can also read more HERE.

Also today, we are basically entering into a contract every time we go online and click the “I agree” button, but what exactly are you agreeing to legally? We'll reveal some of the hidden legalities in those “terms” that pop up.

Plus, a dog given a new “leash” on life as a pound rescue ends up helping police make an arrest in a string of burglaries. We'll introduce you to a dog named “Squid.” You can also read more about him HERE.

Ben tells me we'll get to around 90 degrees today, and then tonight we'll drop into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Clouds are expected to roll in Thursday morning, so what are our chances for rain? Tune in at noon for Ben's live, local forecast for the answer. You can also check out the latest weather conditions HERE.

Remember, if you're away from the TV at noon you can always tune in to kplctv.com to watch us online and your mobile device.

Have a great day everyone!

A modern-day 'Sandlot' comes to Lake Charles

    Sunday, May 28 2017 7:54 PM EDT2017-05-28 23:54:49 GMT

A group of boys are taking their love for baseball off the field and into the backyard. And no, this isn't a scene out of the 1993 classic "The Sandlot." It’s happening right here in Lake Charles.

At the David household, there's something special going on in the backyard.

“One day in the backyard we came out here and decided to start playing around,” said Dylan David, who started a Wiffle ball league with his friends.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout this week

Rain likely on Memorial DayRain likely on Memorial Day

Through tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. At times we could see heavy rainfall. The rain will make its way out by sunrise on Memorial Day. The winds are still blowing out of the south and will continue to blow 5-10 mph overnight. This will keep our temperatures warm. Overnight, we will struggle to get out of the 70s once again. Unfortunately, the rain chances are still high for Memorial Day and through next week.
