More customs and border patrol agents arrive to TX border

(CNN) – An agency spokesman says 150 border patrol agents arrived in Texas on Monday, to help bolster border security.

The agents are to be in the field on Tuesday, doubling the number of agents in the area.

Lawmakers in Washington, DC have struggled to find a solution to what many consider a humanitarian crisis.

The influx of tens of thousands of child migrants, many of whom are crossing the border by themselves, has become a flashpoint in the already divisive issue of immigration reform.

On Tuesday, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Leon Rodriguez testified before the House Judiciary Committee at an oversight hearing on the agency.

USCIS is the government agency that oversees the processing of applications and petitions for immigration benefits, such as green cards, naturalization, work authorization and asylum.
