MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) -

A 23-year-old Moss Bluff man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting Sunday morning at a home on East Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Donald J. Ellis Jr. has been charged with assault by drive-by shooting and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Myers said the homeowner and his family said they were sleeping and heard numerous gun shots being fired at their home.

"A witness was able to get a detailed description, including the license plate, of a black truck that was seen fleeing the area when the shots were fired," Myers said Monday in a news release. "After running the license plate number, deputies located the owner of the truck, Ellis, and the truck, at his home in Moss Bluff."

Bond was set at $550,000.
