SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

Two people were arrested Saturday night following a shooting at a hotel in Sulphur.

According to Lake Charles police, the incident is connected to a drive-by shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon on Cline Street in Lake Charles.

Authorities tracked down 26-year-old El Jerico Bartie, of Lake Charles, to the Super 8 Hotel in Sulphur. Bartie allegedly shot at the officers when they tried to serve an arrest warrant for the drive-by shooting.

"They had the cops in the corner in the hotel in the back with their guns loaded ready to shoot," said Allison Gremillion, who was staying at the hotel.

Fortunately, no hotel guests or officers were injured.

As more police moved in, hotel guests were asked to evacuate.

"Cops knocked on the door and said get out get out now," said hotel occupant Brandon Steede.

The standoff with Bartie lasted about 30 minutes before police said he surrendered.

"They just like opened the door and the man came out with his hands behind his head and they threw him on the ground," Gremillion said.

According to police, Bartie intentionally shot his wife, 25-year-old Katie Marie Mancil, during the ordeal.

Mancil was treated and released from a local hospital and later arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder.

Bartie has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of dangerous instrumentalities in connection with the Cline Street shooting that left one man injured.

Amber Trahan, 22, was arrested Friday night in connection with the drive-by shooting. She has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of dangerous instrumentalities. Authorities said Trahan was in the car with Bartie during the shooting.

Bond for Bartie and Trahan was set at $1.1 million while Mancil's bond was set at $250,000.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Nice weather for our Monday, then more rain this week

    Sunday, February 18 2018 4:59 PM EST2018-02-18 21:59:25 GMT
Rain likely by the middle of this weekRain likely by the middle of this week

Tonight, there will be plenty of clouds around, with a few breaks in between. There should not be any rain around us for the night. It will be warm and muggy. Lows tonight are only in the mid 60s. There is also a good chance we will see fog overnight. There is already plenty of fog at the coast, and that should spread further inland overnight. Take caution on the roads in the morning on your commute. Monday should be another dry, but cloudy day.
