Man drowns in Monroe County jet ski accident

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

A dive team has found the body of a man who fell off a jet ski in a Monroe County pond on Saturday evening.

The body of 34-year-old Jason Mitchell, from Perrysburg, was located by divers around 1pm on Sunday in about seven feet of water.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in a private pond in the 1900 block of Sterns Road, Erie Township, Michigan.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a 28-year-old woman was operating the Jet Ski and the male victim was riding as a passenger.

The man fell off the Jet Ski and disappeared under the water. He was not wearing a life jacket, according to deputies.

Mitchell's body was taken to the Wayne County Medical Examiners office.
