FBI, DEA, ATF assist Holyoke, state police in massive drug sweep

HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

State and local police along with members of the DEA, ATF and FBI took a slew of alleged drug dealers off the streets Thursday during "Operation Tidal Wave."

Chief James M. Neiswanger said the operation targeted street-level dealers who made hand-to-hand sales to undercover narcotics police officers.

The undercover operation represented one component of the Massachusetts State Police's heroin initiative, Neiswanger said.

"This round up would not have been possible without the help of all our partners, especially the Massachusetts State Police," Neiswanger said.

Police charged the following people:

  • Santiago Coriano, of 145 Sargeant St., Apt. 3R, Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Jose Cosme, unknown address: distribution of a class A narcotic.
  • Carlos Alberto Pagan, of 133 Oak St., Apt. 2LF, Holyoke: two default narcotics warrants.
  • Ricardo Mercado Ramos, of 177 Elm St., Apt. 2R, Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Reinaldo Javier Rivera, of 239E. Dwight St. Apt. 304, Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Angel Lizardi-Velez, of 528 S. Bridge St., Apt. 3R, Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Efrain Rivas, of 107 Newton St., Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Charlsey Mitchell, of 165 Grove St., Clinton: possession of a class A narcotic.
  • Robert Fitzgerald, of 248 Maynard St. Agawam: trespassing and possession of a class A narcotic.
  • Jose Nunez, residing without an address: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Edwardo Eddie Rivera, of 181 High St., Apt., 3F, Holyoke: distribution of a class A drug and conspiracy.
  • Risvaldo Vila, of Pleasant Street, Holyoke: distribution of a class A drug and conspiracy.
  • Miguel Rosado, of 27 Cabot St., 2C, Holyoke: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Ezequiel Colon, of 159 Essex, St., 5R, Holyoke: possession of a class A drug, distribution of a class A drug and conspiracy.
  • Jose Burgos, of 194 Mass Ave., Springfield: narcotics distribution warrant.
  • Juvenile: distribution of a class A drug.
  • Alexis Pena Santos, of 82 Clemente St., 2l, Holyoke: two narcotics distribution warrants.
  • Pedro Adorno Cepeda, of 10 N. Bridge St., 3L, Holyoke: distribution of a class B drug and possession of a class B drug.
  • Donna Degray, residing without an address: possession of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug with intent to distribute.
  • George Jones, of 229 Beech St., Holyoke: possession of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug with intent to distribute.
  • Luis Serrano, of 58 Lester St, Springfield: possession of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug with intent to distribute.

The state police gang unit, Holyoke police narcotics unit, members of the violent fugitive apprehension section, FBI Western Mass. Gang Task Force, DEA and ATF all took part in the massive sweep, Neiswanger said.

    A Crowley Police Department K-9 officer died in an overnight shooting that left two others dead and an officer wounded.  The K-9 officer Roscoe was transported to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office on Thursday around noon. Police held a procession for the slain K-9 officer. Roscoe is set to be cremated tomorrow in Sulphur.  State police are continuing to investigate the shooting. The identity of the victims are unknown at this time. Copyright ...

We will have slightly windy conditions with increasing clouds throughout the night. Lows will be in the middle 60s. Friday will start out with mostly cloudy skies. Showers and thunderstorms will be heading toward the area. The rain should arrive more in the evening, then will continue overnight into Saturday morning. Most of the heavier rain will be north of our area.
