Golden Nugget Lake Charles now hiring

Golden Nugget Lake Charles is now accepting applications for several job positions ahead of its grand opening in December 2014.

The casino and hotel will hold a vendor fair on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a career fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Contraband Room at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Applicants must be 18 years or older and must apply online at www.goldennuggetlc.com.

Available job openings at the facility include some in slot operations, table games, food and beverage services, finance, security, marketing, administration, facility management and more.

Golden Nugget is also seeking vendors to provide goods and services for equipment, amenities, maintenance, marketing, amenities and more.

The Employment Center at Golden Nugget, located at 123 College St., opened to the public Thursday. The office is open on Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Through the employment center, job seekers can complete online applications, receive pre-screening interviews and be scheduled for interviews with hiring managers. Employment center staff will assist in filling out new hire paperwork and applying for gaming licenses.

    Lake Charles police officers are searching for a man whom they say ran after crashing his vehicle into a ditch on Henderson Bayou Road. Lt. Kevin Kirkum said the crash was a single-vehicle accident. Henderson Bayou Road runs along the south side of Prien Lake Park. A witness said the man was driving erratically, driving onto the sidewalks at the park before crossing the bridge over the bayou and crashing the vehicle.
