TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Signs of Wednesday night's storm are plentiful in Tyler, where a number of trees and branches still lined the streets.

For motorcyclist Brian Allen, that storm hit him particularly hard. Allen and his friends were riding along Erwin Street near the new jail construction at 7:30 p.m. when the storm caught them. A gust of wind knocked a fence on top of him.

"When you look at a chain link fence, it doesn't look heavy, but when it's 8 feet tall, and a big wall, and it hits you, yeah it hurts a little bit," said Allen.

He was able to walk away from the crash with only some scrapes, and says it could have been worse.

"If those two guys hadn't been there to help get that fence off me, I probably would have fell down on the ground by myself and had to crawl out underneath that somehow," he said.

The Tyler Fire Department said they received 17 calls during and after the storm for downed power lines or fallen trees. One resident along Sunnybrook Drive woke up to a tree on his car that fell from his neighbor's house across the street.
