McNeese Track and Field announces signees and additions

 LAKE CHARLES – McNeese track and field head coach Brendon Gilroy has announced the signing of 17 athletes to his 2014 recruiting class in addition to another 13 that will join the squad when classes begin in August.

The signing class includes 11 females and six males.  Seven of those are distance runners, two middle-distance, two multi-events, three throws, two pole vaulters and a sprinter.

Distance runner signees include transfers Gemma Bridge (University of Brimingham in the United Kingdom), Rhian Dawes (University of Glasgow in Scotland) and Amity Delaney (University of Sydney in Australia).  Also signing are freshman distance runners Katja Woelfl (Ellhoffen, Germany), Bradley Traviss (Yorkshire, UK), Nathan Jones (Denbighshire, UK), and Finlay Murray (Ross-Shire, Scotland).

Middle-distance signees include Onaye Parker and Aaliyah Lane, both out of Fort Bend High Tower High School in Missouri City, Texas.

Vaulters include Taylor Thompson from Lake Shore High School in Mandeville and Zach Dibbern out of Bay City HS in Bay City, Texas.  Dibbern will also run the hurdles.

Throwers who signed include Erin Walker out of Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, Tyler Tijerina of Morton Ranch HS in Houston, and Asa Bertrand, who will throw the javelin, out of Pineville High School.

Sprinter Victoria Martin of Cypress Falls HS in Houston along with multi-event athletes Kristian Ojonta and Breyauna Jackson, both of Nimitz HS out of Houston, rounds out the signing class.

Other female athletes joining the squad include Madeline Mack (middle-distance, St. Louis Catholic HS), Emily Mouton (distance, Carencro HS), Haley Hudson (javelin, Grand Lake HS), and Katie Thornton (pole vault, Bridge City HS).

Other male athletes joining the team include Gabriel Alexander (jumps, SUSLA), Tyler Smith (sprints, North DeSoto HS), Morgan Smith (sprints, North DeSoto HS), Josh Bonton (sprints, Marksville HS), Mike “Tyler” Jones (multi-events, Atascosita HS), Jacob Pruitt (multi-events/jumps, DeQuincy HS), Bryson Skinner (middle distance, DeQuincy HS), Jaylen Goodley (middle distance, Barbe HS)s, and Nick Passaglia (throws, Mission Viejo HS).
