GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A driver was cited in a crash that sparked a few other minor fender-benders and slowed southbound traffic on I-85 in the Gaffney area Saturday afternoon.

Troopers with the SC Highway Patrol said the crash happened near exit 92 around 4:15 p.m.

Troopers said two vehicles were both heading south on I-85 when one driver attempted to change lanes, lost control and rear-ended the other car.

Troopers said that driver was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions. A 67-year-old passenger and an 11-year-old in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were also hospitalized, troopers said.

A handful of minor crashes in which no injuries were reported occurred in the area just after the initial crash.
