Shreveport Suns hoping fans come out and shine at Saturday's Regional Championship

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Shreveport Suns women's basketball team hopes to shine as bright as ever on Saturday as they take on the Dallas Diesel in the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League- Mid South Regional Championship. The seventh nationally ranked Suns will host the third ranked Dallas Diesel Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spar's Princess Park Gym on Baker Street.

The Suns lost to Dallas twice this season but just by six points during their last meeting.  The team is hoping that playing at home will give them the extra edge they need.

"I'm excited about it. I think everyone else is excited about it, the fans," Suns' guard Cindee Wright said. "We can have it here in our home and just to have our fans to come out and just motivate us on to win tomorrow."

The Suns are made up of mostly locally homegrown talent.  A win over Dallas would put them in the National Tournament in New Orleans, which starts on August 1.
