Two accused of stealing from elderly woman

IOWA, LA (KPLC) -

Two Iowa residents are facing charges after stealing from an elderly woman, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Michelle A. Fontenot, 42, and Kane A. Fontenot, 19, have been charged with theft of assets of an aged person over $1,500. Kane Fontenot was also charged with illegal possession of stolen things over $500.

Myers said Michelle Fontenot stole jewelry, valued at over $3,500 from the home of the elderly woman. Michelle Fontenot was hired to provide sitting services to the victim, Myers said.

Myers said Kane Fontenot sold the jewelry at a local pawn shop.

Bond was set at $10,000 for both.
