Palermo pleads not guilty to charges

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Sulphur businessman Joe Palermo pleaded not guilty Wednesday to several criminal charges.

Palermo was first indicted in late April following an investigation by state police.

The 70-year-old Palermo has been accused of possessing stolen heavy equipment and trying to cover it up.

He has been charged with one count of forgery, four counts of illegal possession of stolen things and two counts of altering and removing motor vehicle identification numbers.

Attorneys for Palermo also filed multiple motions Wednesday, including a request to quash a subpoena.

    A gym full of Orchids brightened up the Church of the Good Shepard today.  The Calcasieu Orchid Society held it's first ever show, free to the public.  There were displays, as well as orchids and artwork to buy, even a competition for cut arrangements and just general beauty.
