ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) -

Bond has been set for an Orangeburg man who was arrested in connection with the death of a 14-month-old child.

According to Keisa Peterson of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department, Robert Christian Kemp was arrested on Tuesday and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

"We were called to a residence on Maxwell Place on June 27 in reference to an unresponsive child," Ravenell said. "Our initial investigation indicated the child was placed in his crib by a resident in the house to take a nap. The 14-month-old was discovered by that same household resident to be unresponsive and CPR was performed."

Further investigation by authorities concluded the child died as a result of asphyxiation.

Bond was set by Orangeburg Magistrate Peggy Doremus at $10,000 cash or surety bond with 10 percent option on Wednesday morning.
