Sulphur Police Department celebrates 60 years

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - The Sulphur Police Department will celebrate 60 years of service at an award banquet Thursday night.

The Friends of Sulphur Police support organization will host the event at the West Calcasieu Events Center.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with a silent auction and a cash bar leading up to the main program, which begins at 7 p.m. David Browning, a Barney Fife impersonator, will serve as the keynote speaker.

General admission memberships are $50 per person and include a banquet meal, a membership decal and a commemorative coin. Tickets may be purchased at the Sulphur Police Department or Sulphur City Hall. For ticket or business sponsorships, call Mel Estess at 337-515-4767 or Julie Ireland at 337-764-6238.

The banquet will also serve as a fundraiser for the Friends of Sulphur Police.
