Authorities: Man tried to steal ATM with skid loader

Deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office are seeking a male suspect in connection with the attempted theft of an ATM at a local business.

Authorities responded to a burglary alarm at about 3:45 a.m. on Monday at a business on East McNeese St. in Lake Charles.

"Upon arrival, deputies learned an unknown man stole a (skid loader) from a nearby construction site then drove it to the bank, and in an attempt to open the bank ATM, rammed the ATM numerous times, moving it from its foundation and destroying it in the process," said Kim Myers, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Sheriff's Office.

"The suspect was unable gain access, and no cash was stolen," Myers said.

Authorities
recovered the skid loader, which had been parked behind the business near the ATM.

The Calcasieu Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information on the incident to call 491-3605 or email info@cpso.com.

    There's something different in the Sulphur City Water supply and not everyone is happy about it. The City just re-introduced Fluoride into its system today, to meet a state requirement. Many Sulphur residents are concerned about re-establishing Fluoride in their drinking water, but medical experts are certain it's not harmful especially with such low quantities in the water.
