The story of a dog's last day on Earth is sweeping the internet and tearing at people's heartstrings as it goes.

Robyn Arouty is a photographer, animal rescuer and advocate in Houston, TX. One of her friends, Jordan, had to put her dog, Duke, to sleep on July 7. Robyn went along for moral support. While she was there, she captured the tearful day with her camera.

Duke joined Jordan's family when they were expecting their first child. Not long after their daughter turned one, Duke was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone tumor. Duke underwent surgery to remove his leg, as well as a successful chemotherapy regimen.

Not long after, though, Duke was diagnosed with hemngiosarcoma. With the tumor growing rapidly, the family began running out of options. Although he would improve during the day, nights were difficult as the tumor began to separate his ribs.

"We struggled with the decision to let Dukey go, but ultimately did everything in our power to protect him from further pain," said Jordan. "With the help from our friends, Dukey had a beautiful day filled with love and happiness. We should all be so lucky."

Robyn also posted Duke's adoption video from three years ago. (On a mobile device? Tap here to see the video)

Since Robyn posted the story of Duke's last day on her blog, more than 100,000 people from across the world have taken in Duke's last day.

It didn't look like it Friday afternoon, but over the last two days hundreds of students were moving into housing at McNeese State University.    Sophomore Jacoby Sam was one of the few on campus still unpacking a few things. “I brought my clothes, my laptop computer, bed and I still gotta get some stuff," said Sam.  But even though this isn’t Sam’s first rodeo with college, he’s still pretty nervous about living with complete strang...
