BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The I-10 Westbound is now open on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, but Troopers say congestion was heavy. It is now clear. The I-10 East has also reopened at mile post 119. Traffic traveling eastbound was being diverted at the I-10/I-49 split, but now vehicles are allowed back on the interstate.

Many travelers have opted to take an alternate route on US 190 because the I-10 East on the Basin Bridge was closed earlier.  Traffic is moving progressively on US 190, but the movement slows to a crawl, when passing through the small towns along the way.

An accident involving hazardous phosphoric acid shut down the interstate around 8:00 am Saturday.  State Troopers say charges are pending based on the final outcome of the investigation has been reached.
