ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - One thousand seats were filled with family, teammates and strangers who came to Severns Valley Baptist Church Wednesday night to say their final goodbyes to Brice Taylor.

The 20-year-old died on Saturday, July 5 from traumatic brain injury he sustained in an ATV accident on June 30. Many who attended his funeral took comfort in the belief he was now with his younger sister, Brianna Taylor, who was killed in a crash just two weeks before.

"What has happened to this family with the loss of Brice and Brianna just doesn't seem possible," Pastor Scott Kerr told the crowd.

Family members also found the strength to speak, sharing memories of a loved one once again.

“I’m a mess right now,” their uncle, Curtis Willoughby, said. "It's just in my heart to speak about Brice."

Between the songs family members spoke of Brice Taylor when he was a baby, and a handful talked of how he always joked around with a mischievous laugh.

"There's Brice in his cowboy hat and his cowboy boots, really looking the part," Willoughby laughed.

His cousins called him a family guy. "He was a great son, a loving and adoring brother,” one of them said. “He was a wonderful cousin to us and a caring friend."

The siblings’ father, David Taylor, opened up about the agony as a parent who lost both of his children.

"I screamed, I yelled, I beat things," he confessed.

He then eased the silence with a lesson in life as his phone rang. He had purposely set an alarm.

"That's what our life is all about,” he explained. “It’s time. That's the way we live,” he said. “But when something like this happens, time don't matter no more."

The service lasted two hours and ended in song before a procession carried Brice Taylor to his final resting place.

Brice Taylor would have turned 21 Thursday. Brianna Taylor would have turned 18 on Friday.

David Taylor said he was thankful for the amount of support from the community.
