All fire restrictions lifted on Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests

SPRINGERVILLE, AZ (CBS5) -

All fire restrictions in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests were lifted Tuesday morning.

There is still a closure order in effect in the area around the San Juan Fire, to the south and west of Vernon, officials said.

"We want to remind folks to always exercise caution when building campfires and using charcoal while visiting their national forests," said Jim Zornes, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest supervisor.

"Always be sure and clean out around all fire sources, keep a bucket of water handy, just in case, and thoroughly drown your campfire or charcoal when finished," Zornes said.

Fire restrictions for Stage I and Stage II were lifted on all five ranger districts, and Stage III restrictions (closure), exclusive to portions of the Lakeside Ranger District, were lifted Monday.
