Authorities: Two injured in fire at Chevron Phillips refinery in Port Arthur

PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS (KPLC) -

Two workers were injured Monday night, after a fire broke out at the Chevron Phillips refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, authorities said.

Port Arthur Police Chief Mark Blanton told KBMT that one worker was taken to a Houston hospital, while the other was transported to a hospital in Galveston.

In a news release issued around 11 p.m., Chevron Phillips confirmed the fire started around 8 p.m. and the situation was under control. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The refinery is located on West Gulfway Drive near Texas 82.

    This year, more than 179 million Americans plan to partake in Halloween festivities, up from 171 million last year, spending is slated to reach a record high in survey history, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF).
