Lafayette, LA (KPLC) - Rayne Police have arrested a Carencro man, following a high-speed chase through residential areas of Rayne and Lafayette at about 1 p.m. on Friday.

According to authorities, officers with the Rayne Police Department conducted a traffic stop on 43-year-old Craig Anthony Boudreaux. Boudreaux was not able to produce any form of identification. In a news release, authorities said that Boudreaux "displayed signs of extreme stress and nervousness" during the stop.

Boudreaux fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed. Once Boudreaux entered the Lafayette area, Lafayette Police assisted in the pursuit.

"Boudreaux disobeyed the traffic light at Ambassador Caffery and West Congress Street, where (he) struck multiple other vehicles. Boudreaux was arrested on felony charges and multiple traffic violations," said Rayne Police in a news release.

KATC-TV reports that the chase ended in a crash involving at least four vehicles at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery and Congress. First responders told KATC that four people were transported to an area hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Lafayette Police say Boudreaux is charged with reckless operation and flight from an officer. Boudreaux was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail. Additional charges are pending, as the investigation continues.
