LAFAYETTE, LA - At about 2:40 Wednesday morning, a Lafayette police officer was hit and dragged by a suspect's vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Ambassador Caffrey
Parkway.

After detaining two initial suspects, the officer was told that their accomplices were waiting in a 4-door, mid-size vehicle in the parking lot.

As the officer approached the suspects' vehicle, a female occupant standing nearby reentered the vehicle. She then backed up, striking the officer
with the front of the vehicle and knocking him to the ground.

The driver drove forward, striking the officer a second time. The officer grabbed the vehicle and was dragged for approximately 100 feet.
He then let go and fired two shots at the fleeing vehicle.

The officer was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for moderate injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident or whereabouts of the fleeing suspects is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police of Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
