ETX carjacking suspect indicted

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Longview man accused of stealing two cars, and carjacking another, surrendered, and has been indicted.

Wesley Byron Smith, 35, has been indicted on aggravated robbery, accident involving injury, and robbery in Gregg County.

The mother of Wesley Byron Smyth, who spoke exclusively to KLTV 7 on Tuesday, called KLTV Tuesday night to say that her son had turned himself in to his parole officer. The Gregg County Sheriff's Office, and Longview Police confirmed that that was the case.

    Authorities with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating after receiving a tip that a body of a person missing for more than a decade may be buried in a field behind the EZ Mart on La. 12 in Starks.     A Houma man partially laying on railroad tracks just east of the Lake Charles city limits was struck and killed Sunday. The accident happened near where the tracks intersect with La. 3256, according to Kim Myers, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. Myers said that as the train was backing up around 11 p.m. Sunday, the engineer was unable to see Long, who was hit by the back end of the train.
