Rayne Police seek suspects wanted on attempted murder, robbery charges

RAYNE, LA (KPLC) -

Rayne Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating two suspects, who are both wanted on charges of attempted armed robbery and attempted first degree murder.

According to authorities, Rayne Police responded to an armed robbery in progress in the 300 block of N. McGown St. on June 24. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two black males, armed with a firearm, had approached the victims and demanded money.

During the incident, one of the suspects fired a pistol into the victim's vehicle. Neither of the victims sought medical attention following the incident.

The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Bryan "BJ" Bellard and 23-year-old Lamar Malbrough, were observed fleeing the scene in a gray car.  

An arrest warrant was issued for Bellard and Malbrough. They are both charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and two counts of attempted first degree murder. 

Bonds have been set at $250,000 each.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bellard or Malbrough is encouraged to call Acadiana Crime Stoppers at 789-8477. Callers may remain anonymous.
