Arrest made in overnight fatal shooting

Update: Richard Moss was released Oct. 28 after the murder charge was rejected.


Following Press Release sent by Lake Charles Police:

On Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 1:57am, officers of the Lake Charles Police Department were dispatched to 2706 Allen Street in reference to the report of a shooting at that location. Upon arrival officers located a black male, later identified as Wilbert J. LaFleur III of Lake Charles, deceased in the front yard of that residence.

Corporals Mitch Sawyer and Kirk Dugas along with Officer Jeremy Sherman handled the initial investigation. Through the course of the investigation into this incident, Richard Moss, 60 years old of Lake Charles, was charged with 2nd Degree Murder. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. His bond is pending, no picture available at this time.

This investigation is on going and additional details will be released as they are developed. Detectives Colby Thompson and Willie Fontenot are handling the investigation.

    Ethyn Evans is going to be getting plenty of air miles on his tuba next year.  He starts the new year off marching in the U.S. Army's All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
