VIDEO: KPLC viewers capture video of confirmed tornado

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

KPLC received numerous videos and photos from viewers on Friday as severe weather hit Southwest Louisiana.

The most compelling was a video from Kevin Berlin, who followed a confirmed tornado from the Thornwell area to near Welsh.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the tornado was an EF-0 with top winds of 70 mph. The tornado was 300 yards wide and traveled 4.6 miles. It touched down at 1:46 p.m. and dissipated before 2 p.m.

There were no injuries reported but the tornado did down some trees, power poles and damaged two barns.

Laura Guidry Taylor also captured the tornado while she was traveling La. 99 near Hayes.

A group of people also saw a possible funnel cloud on La. 27 in Carlyss earlier in the day.
